The next NCO seminar will take place Monday, June 10 at 11h00 in Pierre Cotton’s room. Dr Benoit CLUZEL, from the LICB – Dijon will give a talk entitled : « GeSbSeSTe chalcogenide materials for non-linear optics and programmable photonics on a silicon chip ».
Abstract : This seminar will focus on our recent works on GeSbSeSTe materials for integrated photonics. The presentation will begin with a discussion on nonlinear optics, followed by a description of our approach for enhancing the nonlinear Kerr index of GeSbSe alloys. In a second part, we will consider the reversible phase change of GeSeSbTe alloys from their amorphous to crystalline phase. These later are employed as patches functionnalizing silicon-on-insulator (SOI) waveguides and allowing for a non-volatile and reversible control of the waveguide complex transmittance. In this section, I will detail the process flow implemented for nanofabrication and the first experimental results showing the all-optical programmation of GeSeTe, GeTe and GeSbTepatches on silicon waveguides. These developments are performed in close collaboration between the Photonics Department at ICB and CEA Léti in the framework of the ANR contract OCTANE (ANR-20-CE24-0019) and the Horizon Europe Neuropuls project (grant n°101070238) which are aiming to implement new optical computing architectures on chips with phase change materials (PCM).
