Under the supervision of the French Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Research. France’s leading multidisciplinary research organization, CNRS conducts research in all scientific, technological and societal fields, grouped within 10 institutes. The Institut Fresnel is part of the Institute for Engineering and Systems Sciences (ex-INSIS). Its mission is to develop and coordinate research in mechanics of materials and structures, acoustics, bioengineering, fluids, processes, plasmas, transfers, combustion, thermics, micro- and nanoelectronics, micro- and nanotechnologies, micro- and nanosystems, photonics, electromagnetism and electrical energy.
18 regional delegations provide direct, local management of laboratories and maintain links with local partners and authorities. Institut Fresnel is part of the Délégation Provence et Corse (DR12) of CNRS.
