Our Lab will have a booth at the Science Festival of Marseille on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m.
Researchers, engineers, and doctoral students will welcome the General Public to our 2 workshops on the general theme of “Light: Its Secrets and Applications”

“Optics & How the Eye Works”: understanding Light in everyday life. Light travels in a straight line through a homogeneous medium, but what happens when it encounters other media such as the human body, glass, or metals? This demonstration aims to provide a few examples of how images are formed by the eye, a camera, or a telescope, concluding with a small optical illusion (mirascope).
“Magnetic Attraction”: MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a medical device used to image the interior of biological bodies. It reveals the morphology of organs and also helps diagnose certain biological functions of these organs based on the activity highlighted by the images obtained. Light is an electromagnetic wave. How do MRI and magnetic fields work? How are we able today to detect diseases and “see where light cannot reach”? That is what we will try to explain to you in this “workshop”.
