Dr. Eric Mottay, from h-nu Company, will give a talk entitled “Machine learning and laser processes” on Wednesday, November 05th at 02:00 p.m. in room Pierre Cotton of our Lab.
Abstract : Ultra-short laser material processing is at the heart of many industrial applications. However, process optimisation remains difficult due to the diversity of materials and experimental conditions, which physical models often struggle to model reliably. For their part, machine learning methods require volumes of data that are difficult to acquire in practice. This seminar will present how the integration of physical models and machine learning techniques, combined with an appropriate experimental approach (online diagnostics, multimodal sensors, automatic data acquisition), can address these challenges. We will discuss strategies for improving model generalisation, even with limited data, and show how these methods can accelerate the optimisation of laser processes for new materials and applications.
