Samuel Colin (Griffith University Brisbane), Ralph Willox (Tokyo University) & Thomas Durt (Institut Fresnel, Marseille) nous proposeront cette variation quantique à six mains.

Abstract : In 1927, de Broglie proposed to explain the apparent wave-particle duality exhibited by quantum systems in terms of a non-linear modification of Schroedinger’s equation.
His idea was that the non-linearity would prevent localised wave packets to spread, what corresponds to the modern concept of soliton.
The aim of the talk is to give an historical overview of these ideas, to explain recent results concerning the stability of such quantum solitons, and to sketch the theoretical and conceptual challenges to which this non-standard approach is necessarily exposed.
Finally, we shall discuss certain recent experimental proposals aimed at testing the superposition principle with large assemblies of atoms in the mesoscopic regime, that were formulated in the framework of opto-mechanics.
