Bruno ALMEIDA soutiendra sa thèse intitulée "Laser patterning of metal layers encapsulated by dielectrics" on Thursday, the 10th of November 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Institut Fresnel & via TEAMS.
The PhD was conducted under the direction of Laurent Gallais, professor at Acole Centrale Marseille, and the co-direction of Denis Guimard, R&D group leader at Saint-Gobain Recherche Paris and supervision of Jean-Thomas Fonné, technical platform leader at SGR Paris.
Abstract :
In the industrial context of the development of a flash laser treatment (Saint-Gobain’s Actilaz technology) of silver-based coatings to improve the insulating properties of glazings, it was discovered that this laser treatment could advantageously structure these dielectric encapsulated silver layers on very large surfaces. My thesis aims to obtain and to understand the mechanism(s) responsible for the formation of these structures via in-situ measurements during laser treatments. In particular, the impact of metal and dielectrics layers into the stack on the structures were studied, and the in-situ IR-thermal measurement were used to confirm a liquid phase patterning. The patterning was then discussed from a wrinkle perspective.
