The next seminar of the theme « Information processing - Random waves » will take place Friday June 28th, at 11:00 in the Pierre Cotton’s room.
Nguyen Linh Trung from Vietnam National University, Hanoi will give a talk on Modern subspace tracking for signal processing: A brief review and some developments

Abstract :
Subspace tracking aims to seek linear low-dimensional structure in a high-dimensional manifold in an adaptive setting. In this aspect, subspace tracking can be considered as a fast implementation of principal component analysis (PCA) for streaming data, which find many applications in signal processing, data analysis, telecommunication, biomedical imaging, and computer vision, etc.
In this talk, we would like to bring up some important aspects of modern subspace tracking for signal processing. First, we review some essential algorithms in the literature (up to 2010) where linear computational complexity of algorithms is the target. Then, we focus on modern subspace tracking which deals with many practical issues (e.g. outliers, missing data, higher-order data structure) and algorithmic issues (e.g. guaranteed convergence analysis). Finally, we will present some developments from our group on this topic, with illustrations in practical applications such as DOA tracking, radio-astronomy, video background-foreground separation, especially EEG signal analysis. Some recent trends and open perspectives are also discussed.
