Postdoctoral opportunity in advanced biological imaging – Marseille
Sept 2026
I am looking for postdoctoral candidates to apply for an IMACS COFUND fellowship, hosted at Institut Fresnel in Marseille.
The programme, led by the Marseille Imaging Institute, offers 17 fully funded 3-year fellowships, including a 3-month international mobility.
Our projects will combine advanced optical imaging at Institut Fresnel with intestinal organoid models, through a collaboration with Delphine Delacour (IBDM, Marseille).
Two possible research directions:
- Smart microscopy — Together with Frédéric Galland (Institut Fresnel), we develop adaptive imaging strategies that determine where and when to focus acquisition in living biological tissues, using approaches from information theory.
- Super-resolution microscopy — Together with Anne Sentenac (Institut Fresnel), we develop structured-illumination approaches for super-resolved imaging, with a particular interest in live imaging of tissues.
The exact project will be shaped with the candidate. Depending on their background and interests, it may range from the development of new optical and computational imaging methods to the study of the biophysics of tissue morphogenesis.
Candidates with backgrounds in optics, instrumentation, computational imaging, or biophysics are very welcome to get in touch.
