The Laser Matter Interaction group of the Institut Fresnel dedicates his research work to experimental and fundamental studies of high power laser/matter interactions applied to the optical. The group develops experiments, models and numerical tools for the study of laser damage effects in optical materials and systems, and the resistance improvement of laser materials. Different specific high power laser benchs operating in the continuous, nanosecond and femtosecond regime have been developped in the group for these studies. The group collaborates with institutions, laboratories and companies that design high power laser systems of manufacture high power laser optical components.

The group is composed of 12 members, including 5 Teaching Researchers (3 Professor and 2 Associate Professors), 1 post doctorate, 1 engineer, 3 PhD students and Master students.
