The National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) is a public organization under the responsibility of the French Ministry of Education and Research.
It produces knowledge and puts it at the service of society. First research organization in France, CNRS conducts multidisciplinary research in all scientific, technological and societal field.

CNRS conducts research that are grouped into 10 institutes.
Our laboratory depends on theInstitute of engineering sciences and systems (INSIS).
The mission of the INSIS is to develop and coordinate research in mechanics of materials and structures, acoustics, bioengineering, fluids, processes, plasmas, transfer, combustion, thermal, micro- and nano-electronics, micro- and nanotechnologies, micro- and nanosystems, photonics, electromagnetism and electricity.

CNRS laboratories (or research units) are located throughout France, and employ a large body of tenured researchers, engineers, and support staff.
Fresnel Institute is a "Joint Lab", in partnership with Aix-Marseille University and Ecole Centrale.

18 regional delegations provide direct and local management of laboratories and maintain relationships with local partners and authorities. The Fresnel Institute depends on the "Provence and Corsica Delegation"
