Laurent GALLAIS-DURING

Maître de Conférences

Researcher at the Institut Fresnel

Teacher at the Ecole Centrale Marseille

I was born in Clermont-Ferrand, France on september 1976. I received a Master degree in Engineering from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Physique in 1999 and a Research Master degree in 1999 from the Aix-Marseille University. My PhD degree in Physics was obtained in 2002, after a work on laser damage in optical components. Since 2003, I am an associate professor at the Ecole Centrale Marseille where I teach in the field of Photonics. My research activities, conducted at the Institut Fresnel, deal with high power laser / materials interactions. My research interests concern laser damage of optical interference coatings in the femto to nanosecond range, the mitigation of damaged optics, and laser processing of thin films for various applications.
